Welcome to Memora! These Terms of Service govern your use of our AI-powered study platform. By using Memora, you agree to these terms.

1. About Memora

Memora is an educational technology platform developed as a student project. We provide AI-powered tools to help students study more effectively, including quiz generation, flashcards, course structuring, and interactive learning assistants.

2. Your Account

Account Creation

• You must provide a valid email address and create a secure password
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Memora
• Email subdomains (e.g., name+tag@domain.com) and temporary email addresses are not permitted for security reasons
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials

Account Responsibilities

• You must not share your account with others
• You must not use Memora for any unlawful purposes
• You must not attempt to circumvent security features or credit limits
• You must not abuse, harass, or harm other users

Account Termination

• You may delete your account at any time through your settings
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy

3. Service Usage

Fair Use

• Memora operates on a credit-based system to manage AI usage costs
• Free users receive 2,000 AI credits per week
• Attempting to abuse the credit system may result in account suspension

Content You Create

• You retain ownership of all content you create on Memora
• You grant us a license to store, process, and display your content to provide our services
• You can delete your content at any time
• We do not claim ownership of your study materials, quizzes, or other content

AI-Generated Content

• Content generated by our AI features is provided for educational purposes
• AI-generated content may not always be accurate or complete
• You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated educational content
• You should not rely solely on AI-generated content for critical assessments

Sharing and Visibility

• You can set your study materials to private, shared with specific users, or public
• Public materials may be duplicated by other users
• When you duplicate public materials, a download counter is incremented
• You are responsible for the content you choose to make public

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Payment Processing

• All payments are processed through Gumroad, a third-party payment processor
• When you purchase a subscription on Gumroad, you agree to their terms and conditions
• We do not store your payment information
• You will receive a license key after purchase to activate your subscription

Subscription Terms

• Memora Plus subscriptions are available in 1-month and 12-month durations
• Subscriptions are not automatically renewed
• After your subscription expires, you will revert to the free plan
• To continue with Plus features, you must purchase a new subscription
• Refunds are handled according to Gumroad's refund policy

Credits and Usage

• Subscription tiers provide different weekly credit limits
• Credits reset weekly and do not roll over
• Permanent credits may be added for promotional purposes
• Credits cannot be transferred between accounts

5. Intellectual Property

Our Rights

• Memora, our logo, and branding are our intellectual property
• You may not use our branding without permission
• The structure and code of our platform are protected by copyright

Your Rights

• You own the content you create
• You own your study notes, custom quizzes, and other materials
• AI-generated content based on your inputs is considered your content

6. Service Availability

No Guarantees

• Memora is provided "as is" without warranties
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation
• As a student project, we may experience downtime or technical issues
• We are not liable for any loss of data, though we make reasonable efforts to prevent it

Changes to Service

• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time
• We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes
• We may update these terms and will notify you of material changes

7. Limitations and Liability

Educational Purpose

• Memora is designed as a study aid, not a replacement for learning
• We are not responsible for your academic performance
• You should verify AI-generated information with authoritative sources

Content Moderation

• We rely on user reports for content moderation
• We are not responsible for user-generated content
• We will make reasonable efforts to address reported violations

Third-Party Services

• We use third-party services including Supabase (database), OpenAI (AI), Gumroad (payments), and Vercel (hosting)
• These services have their own terms and privacy policies
• We are not responsible for the actions of third-party providers

Limitation of Liability

• Memora is a student project provided free or at minimal cost
• We provide the service with good intentions but cannot guarantee outcomes
• We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service
• Your use of Memora is at your own risk

8. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Infringe on others' intellectual property rights
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Upload malicious files or code
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Use automated tools to scrape or access the service
• Create multiple accounts to abuse free credits
• Share inappropriate or offensive content
